Pen profiles of St. Bernard’s Governing Board
Claire Bailey: Chair of Governors – I have links to the school for over eighteen years. I started as a parent governor and I am named governor for health and safety which included buildings and health related issues. I am also governor for admissions and also the ethos committee. I enjoy my role supporting the staff to help provide the best possible education for our children.
John Griffin: Foundation Governor – It is a privilege to serve as a Foundation Governor at St. Bernard’s. I have been a member of the Governing Board since 2019. I am also a past pupil of the school. We are blessed to have such a dedicated Governing Board and staff who are passionate about ensuring St. Bernard’s is ‘a unique family in faith, love and learning’ for the wonderful children and families it serves. As a school, we work hard to ensure there is a real partnership between home, school and parish, living that mission and following in Christ’s footsteps together. The Catholic life and ethos of the school is a real strength of the school and tangible to all who visit. As a member of the Curriculum, Pupil Welfare, Ethos and Community Committee, I work with the rest of the team to ensure Christ is at the Centre of all that we do, with strong links between the Diocese of Salford and the Parish of Christ the Redeemer.
Rebecca Spencer: Teacher Governor – I have been a teacher at the school for 15 years and I am currently the Deputy Head Teacher. I am part of the Resources Committee, Curriculum and Pupil Welfare and attend Full Governor Meetings each term.
Gemma Fitzpatrick: Parent Governor – I have had children attending St. Bernard’s since 2014 and I have been a Parent Governor since June 2018. I participate on the Curriculum and Pupil Welfare, Ethos and Community Committee in addition to a specialist SEND governor role as well.
